Sacrifice
Give yourself relief in knowing that the successful people you see in the movies or playing professional sports have made more personal sacrifices than their competition. Yes, it is true that some are naturally blessed with greater talents and physical superiority than you and me. But, it is those determined few who were willing to make the daily sacrifices for the attainment of their goals. One must understand that the athletes you see on TV are simply the end product of daily discipline and sacrifice. What is not publicized or disclosed are the grueling months or years of preparation such as: getting up at 5 am to train or practice, eating lean proteins and clean carbs instead of burgers and beer, spending free time learning to develop their profession instead of watching TV or playing video games, abstinence from alcohol, double cardio sessions, taking supplements and vitamins, writing out personal goals and developing a plan of action. A successful life is a repetition of successful days, one after the other. This process is how you graduate from college, get promoted in your job, develop a championship golf swing, or build a fulfilling relationship. Everyone wants to accomplish his or her dreams in life. But, there is only one question that needs to be asked, “Are you willing to do what it takes and make the committed sacrifices?”
Your success is up to you.
Reflection
There’s no doubt that there will be obstacles and challenges on the journey to success. It should be understood up front that taking the road less traveled will not always be pleasant. Training, practicing, and studying can be physically and mentally exhausting at times, but that is the sacrifice that you have to make to be in the top 5%. It takes tenacity and perseverance. Once you begin to understand that success is a series of calculated steps that cannot be avoided or maneuvered around. If you already know this, it should give you peace in knowing that you are on the right path to achieving your dreams. If this information stirs up some emotions in you, you might want to reevaluate your daily actions or habitual patterns that may be hindering your desired life. Find strength in knowing that all successful people have made more personal sacrifices than those who sit on the sidelines of life. A successful life is composed of disciplined, daily actions that take you closer to your goals and put the necessary foundations in place, so when your opportunity comes knocking, as it certainly will, you will be prepared and ready to shine in your moment of glory, all the days of your life.
