I am interested in increasing clubhead speed. What is the best way to obtain this? How frequent should this training be? I believe that overload/underload should be done. I could use a little assistance in the details. Any help would be great.

"A weekly training program of developing your golf power must include most of these: kettle bell throws, swinging a weighted club, using the swing fan, pulley/cable movements, squats, abdominal rotational movements, upper body golf rotational movements, foam roller and stretching." I got this info straight from Gabe and have been doing it. Increased my clubhead speed with a driver 4 mph in the last month using this as the basis for my workouts. Just tested my clubhead speed yesterday and not only was it 4 mph faster but also more consistent. Over 25 shots my clubhead speed only had a variance of 1 mph where a month ago I had a 3 mph variance over the same number of shots. It works man so give it a go. I know it says for golf power but to me golf speed and power seem to go hand in hand. Just be sure to do plenty of stretching and foam roller stretching. Hope this helps
Derek,

Great explanation! Get strong, get fast, increase mobility and increase flexibility. Firstly, the goal is to get the entire body stronger. 2nd you need to train to muscles to functionally work together and fire fast as in the golf swing. 3rd you need to increase your mobility by using the foam roller. 4th you need to stretch 1-2 times per day.

* I also train Vijay daily on the Vew-Do Zippy balance board. A fun, yet challenging way to increase your balance. Everyone should incorporate this into your routine. Keep me updated on your progress! Great job!
Great website Gabe! What kind of exercises do you have Vijay do on the Vew-Do? In looking at those, seems like it could be helpful, but couldn't tell from their website what kind of workout to do. Thanks

Good luck this week Vijay!

Guys ..guys why worry about clubhead speed? It's immatrial in the end! It's all got to do with ... Rythem and timing... and If I were you ... I'd stick to my natural swing speed!!! Just a suggestion!!! Good golfing!!! Enjoy
The fastest way to increase clubhead speed is to create momentum with your body.

Create a one-piece take away with your shoulders and arms moving away from the golf ball at the same time. Your left shoulder should be pointed at the back of the golf ball at the top of your backswing. Your hips should trigger the downswing and create some torque in your mid-section. This will promote a lag or delay with the clubhead. That lag or delay is storing power and creating whip or momentum with the clubhead at impact.

Increasing strength and flexibility will improve the ability to store power for impact. Using the exercises Gabe has provided will certainly strengthen your Core and give you the results you are looking for.

Good Luck and Have Fun!
Well said Curtis! Completely agree

"I coach golf and what formula that seems to work well for my players is off season = more weight less reps...during season = less weight and higher reps.  Include a lot of stretches regardless of in or out of season."
